How does scoring work?

Tug of War uses traditional cribbage scoring for pairs, runs, fifteens, and other familiar combinations. The difference is how those points affect the game.

For every full five cribbage points earned in an individual scoring event, players receive one Tug. Certain plays, including reaching exactly 15 or 31 during card play, can earn additional bonus Tugs.

These Tugs move The Knot across the board, bringing players closer to victory.

Do I need to know how to play cribbage?

You don't have to be an experienced cribbage player to enjoy Imagicrib! The game uses traditional cribbage hands and scoring, so learning those fundamentals is a great place to start. If you're unfamiliar with cribbage or need a refresher, our instructions and learning resources can help you get started.

How many people can play?

Imagicrib supports two or four players, depending on the game mode. Two players can compete in any of the three game modes, while four players can team up for Battle or Clash. In team games, partners work together to pull The Knot toward their shared Victory Line.

How long does a typical game take?

That depends on the game mode and how the cards fall! Clash is the quickest option, averaging just 3–5 rounds. Battle is designed for a shorter campaign of up to 15 rounds, while War offers a longer experience that can extend to a special 19th round.

Games can also end earlier whenever a player reaches their Victory Line

How is Imagicrib different from traditional cribbage?

Imagicrib uses traditional cribbage card play and scoring but introduces an entirely new way to compete. Rather than accumulating points toward a fixed total, players convert their cribbage scores into Tugs that move The Knot across a shared battlefield. Every hand can shift the momentum, allowing players to battle back and forth until someone claims victory.

What is Fog of War?

Fog of War is a special endgame mechanic in the full-length War Mode.

Throughout the game, cards are secretly set aside in a separate pile called the Fog Bank. As the game progresses, the battlefield becomes smaller, bringing players closer to a final showdown.

If neither player has won after 18 rounds, the game enters Fog of War, where the final round is played using only the cards collected in the Fog Bank.
